Toby Richards
Director of Education Customer Marketing & Programs
Microsoft Corporation
 
Toby Richards is the Director of Microsoft's Education Customer Marketing & Programs organization. His team develops partnerships, solutions and tools to assist faculty, administrators, and information technology professionals within schools and institutions to improve efficiencies, enhance the learning process and prepare students for the next-generation workforce. Previously, Toby managed education partnership strategies, working with independent software vendors who develop learning and business applications designed for primary, secondary and higher education. In that role, he launched the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) initiative, and played a key role to transition this K-12 industry specification to the Software and Information Industry Association in 1999. Prior to this role, he was responsible for Microsoft's distance (online) learning strategies, working with educators from around the world to extend learning beyond the four walls of a physical classroom. In that role, he represented Microsoft on the advisory board of the Instructional Management System (IMS) initiative that was introduced by Educause.

Jim Sauer
Vice President and General Manager, Dell K12 Business Unit
Dell Computer Corporation
 
Jim Sauer serves as vice president and general manager of the K12 business unit at Dell Computer Corporation. He has overall responsibility for Dell's K12 organizations throughout the U. S.
 
Mr. Sauer joined Dell in 1997 as Director of Dell's Advanced Systems Group. While in this position, he grew the Enterprise business for Public Sector to over $550 million, and took the Advanced Systems Group team from 20 to 170 members.
 
Prior to joining Dell, Mr. Sauer served over eleven years with Compaq Computer in numerous sales and management positions. Mr. Sauer holds a Bachelor's Science degree in Education from the Kansas University.
