Digital California Project Makes Round 1 Node Site Recommendations

The first round of node site selections for the Digital California Project have been recommended by the Network Planning Team and endorsed by the Program Steering Committee. The team made these first round node site selections based upon the input received through the regional and county meetings held between September 1, 2000 and November 14, 2000.

The recommendations of the first round node sites are preliminary and subject to discussions with the sites listed and the availability of sufficient telecommunications infrastructure to support a DCP node as defined in the project plan.

Also included in the recommendation were additional potential node sites that were either identified but not selected as prospective sites or were requested at the regional and county-based meetings. These potential node sites were not selected for implementation as part of Round 1. Evaluation of these node sites and others will continue through the collection of the DCP survey data, network design process, and implementation planning. If the need for additional DCP node sites is determined, further recommendations from the Network Planning Team will be forwarded to the Program Steering Committee.
