Jim Marshall was born in East Detroit. He attended Grosse Pointe schools, Hillsdale University and graduated from the University of South Florida with degrees in Science and Business.
 
He has been in the business for 25 years. Before joining Apple Computer, Jim was Vice President of World Wide Marketing for Informix. He has previously held senior sales management positions at Oracle, Tandem Computers and Burroughs. Jim enjoys a reputation for leading sales teams that consistently overachieve.
 
He is married to Carla and has one daughter Leanne, who works for Oracle. They reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

The convergence of Web technology, wireless networks and portable client devices provides new design opportunities for computer/communications systems. CoolTown is a novel combination of new and existing technologies that bring the physical and virtual worlds together to redefine how we live, work and learn.
 
Michael Slavich is a Senior Technical Architect with Hewlett-Packard. As a Senior Technical Architect for Hewlett-Packard, Michael architects and designs secure mobile & wireless Internet based solutions. These architectures focus on areas such as E-Services for Education, Government, Business and Commerce. He also interacts with Hewlett-Packard Labs on taking future visions such as HP's Cooltown and providing guidance to HP’s customers to turn the vision into a reality. He has advanced degrees in Computer Science and Economics and holds a number of industry certifications in technology and security. Michael is also a regular speaker at a number of Industry Conferences on such topics as the future of the Internet, Security, and the Internet Architectural Components.
 
Michael has been with Hewlett-Packard for over 16 years and prior to joining HP Michael was an Associate Professor of Computer Science in the California State University System.
 
Jim Vanides is a program manager and strategic account manager in Hewlett-Packard’s e-Education solutions team. He works with strategic education customers to pilot innovative web-based solutions for schools and their connected communities.
 
Jim has been with Hewlett-Packard for over 23 years, and is currently a part-time graduate student in Learning Design and Technology at the Stanford University School of Education.
