POSITION: SYSTEMS ANALYST/COMPUTER OPERATOR
A. PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under direction, integrates new and existing centralized computer systems with users' needs; leads and manages projects related to new central systems installations; supports the computer operators in the manual work of running the computer center.
B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Individual positions may not perform all of the duties listed nor do these examples include all responsibilities of positions in this class.)
* Takes primary responsibility for new district-wide system installation
* Meets with users to determine conversion needs; works with vendors to convert information to new systems; assists users with the maintenance of the new systems; serve as part of the computer systems help desk staff and answers phones to solve user problems related to the central computer systems.
* Conducts end user training
* Assists individual users in the conversion to and understanding of new computer systems
* Works with the computer operators to print reports, back up computer system information, and administrate electronic mail and other services provided by the district office computer center
* Ensures the reliability of computer generated reports
* Performs related duties as required
C. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of:
* Centralized information system management
* Function of help desk operation, providing technical assistance to users
* Computer system training techniques
* Project management and data conversion techniques

2. Ability to:
* Work in a high pace environment with multiple competing priorities
* Quickly diagnose system problems and implement appropriate solutions
* Meet with computer users to determine the best fit between computer hardware/software and the end-users needs
3. Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a college or university with an emphasis in computer science or related field. Experience in the installation of major computer system hardware and software. Experience working in a highly customer-oriented help desk. Experience in setting up and enforcing data integrity standards for central computer systems. Experience with project management and completing projects within pre-defined time limits.
