May SIG at Oracle Corporation
Oracle Corporation hosted the May SIG at their Redwood Shores facility. Rich Seidner, Director of Marketing K-12, flew in from Pennsylvania to address the group. He presented Oracle's vision for a future of education comprising Commerce, Community and Classroom participants. He described a future for education consisting of partnerships that connect students to their community and to the world of work.

Cameron O'Rouke, Principal Technologist for Oracle Corporation, presented an in-depth discussion about Oracle's Network Computing Architecture and solutions for data delivery. Slides of O'Rouke's presentation are available in PDF format at his web page at http://govt.oracle.com/corourke.

Fall Conference Keynote Speaker Announced
The Wednesday keynote speaker at CEDPA's Fall, 1998, conference, will be Kathryn Yates, Director of K-12 Programs for Microsoft. Ms. Yates has actively promoted K-12 educational activities within Microsoft such as The Great Computer Roundup and NetDay. Her white paper, "A Vision for Technology in Education: The Connected Learning Community" can be viewed online at Microsoft's website at http://www.microsoft.com/education/k12/articles/clcjan97.asp.

CEDPA's Fall, 1998, conference will be held on October 14-16 at the Palm Springs Marquis Hotel. Look for detailed information at this year's Conference Central which will launch on or about June 1.
