NetDay Components
(To be arranged by National NetDay)
- Produce two and one-half hours of moderated panels and one-half hour of pre-recorded videos to be up-linked for distribution, as outlined in the schedule above.
- Arrange for at least one downlink site per state (with your help, we can do this!).*
- Promote and publish downlink sites on our Website.
- Promote the Workshop in the national media.
- Work with our partners and sponsors, government and education agencies, labor, and others to help get the word out to possible attendees.
- Arrange for web-based interactive activities, including issue-based discussion areas, real-time seminar transcripts and streaming audio. These Web-based activities will remain active at least through October.
- Provide an E-mail address and a 1-800 phone bank in order to take questions from participants. The 1-800 phone bank will be staffed with experienced NetDay volunteers, beginning with the moderated panels and running on hour after the close of the on-line and satellite distributed core. Some questions will be directed live to the panels.
- Provide support materials electronically for each panel, including model technology plans, funding applications, and the NetDay How-To Guide.
- Assist with any optional components (see below), as needed.
*If you are capable of hosting a downlink site, please contact Teresa Wann at [email protected] or (415) 553-2315.
Optional Components
(To be arranged by and at the discretion of downlink site organizers)
- Invite a local keynote speaker to introduce the on-line and satellite distributed core, to clarify local status and activities, and to establish a local framework for the moderated panels.
- Organize a hands-on workshop after the on-line and satellite distributed core to introduce local resources, and to complete applications for support.
- Refreshments for participants.
- Access to phones/e-mail so participants can pose questions.
- Publish your "event" in local media and/or on your Website.
- Invite community members who you feel would benefit from participating in the workshop.

Looking for a site near you to view the workshop? Call your local PBS station to see if they will be downlinking the workshop. You can also check with your school or school district. Many school district offices have downlink capabilities. Also, a local college or community college may be able to help. If none of these has plans to downlink the workshop, ask them why not! Organize your own downlink site in your community.
If you can't view the workshop live, ask someone to tape it for later broadcasting. You will lose the interactive component, but the information will be invaluable.
NetDay expects to have at least one downlink site (but we hope to have dozens) in each state where you can go to view this on-line and satellite distributed video workshop. As downlink sites are identified,NetDay will publish them here. Please check back regularly for updates.
If you know of a downlink site not listed here, please contact us at .
