Have you pointed your web browser to Microsoft's web site at www.microsoft.com and noticed how quickly their site responds to your commands? Ever wonder what kind of hardware is behind that web site?

According to their WWW Server FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), here is what supports their site.

Ten Compaq Proliant 2000R servers running the Windows NT™ Server and Internet Information Server software power the Microsoft site. Each server has four 166-Mhz Pentium™ processors, 512 megabytes of RAM and five, 2-gigabyte hard disks. Their Internet connection is nine DS3 circuits.

The FAQ additionally states that the site averages about 35 million hits per day.
